Lutheran Campus Ministry to sign closing papers on purchase of Rose House at 1:00 p.m.

Call Committee meets from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in Room 7.

Wednesday April 2, 2003

Retired's Group will hold the "Planning" get together at St. Thomas at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Lenten mid-day spoken service at noon. Bring your ideas for activities, places to visit, and other ideas for the group to enjoy during the coming year. Please bring a brown bag lunch and your table service — soup, dessert and beverages will be provided.

Spoken Service at noon, lasting about ½ hour. This will be followed by a light lunch in Heritage Hall. A free-will offering for the luncheon will be received.

IU Students meet at 5:30 p.m. at Rose House for supper and Bible Study.

Lenten Organ Meditation at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary, played by Carol Nave.

Service of Compline at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary — the meditation will be based on the "Core Values" statement adopted by the congregation on October 27, 2002.

MCT will meet at 6:00 p.m. in Rooms 12 and 13, break for the service and continue afterward.

Younger children (preschool through kindergarten) will meet in Rooms 8 and 9 for their Godly Play curriculum. Look for signs in the narthex to direct you to the appropriate classroom.

Reexamining the Biblical Evidence on Same-Sex Relationships — This forum (in Room 16) will introduce the subject. The book The Children are Free: Reexamining the Biblical Evidence on Same-Sex Relations by Reverend Jeff Miner and John Tyler Connoley will be offered for people to take home and read, with follow-up forums to discuss the book's contents in April and May.

Lay leaders, students, the general public and clergy will gather on Monday, April 28, 2003, from 9 a.m. to 3: 00 p.m. at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in South Bend to explore the causes of terrorism. The conference is sponsored by Indiana Partners for Christian Unity and Mission (IPCUM), the successor to the Indiana Council of Churches.

One of IPCUM's three priorities is to assist churches in addressing the culture of violence. Terrorism is the attempt to achieve political ends through violent means.

The conference will include worship, discussion groups and a response panel. The featured speaker is Dr. George Lopez, Director of Policy Studies at The Joan B.
