BMDG is organizing an interfaith tour to Turkey through which some of the most prominent religious sites in Turkey will be visited. We believe that this tour will be a unique opportunity for participants to better understand and appreciate the history of various faiths and to provide a joyful atmosphere to get to know one another in a peaceful journey.

Lutherans Concerned / North America, Inc. is offering free training for members and potential members of local and synodical "RIC" Core Teams at Prince of Peace Lutheran in Schaumberg Illinois. This may be the last free RIC Core Team training, so please respond today to make your reservation for this event. All you have to do is get to Chicago and we'll take it from there. Ground transportation to and from the airport, host housing, meals and training materials will be provided by the Chicago team and a dedicated group of volunteers.

Plan to arrive on the afternoon of 6/3/04. We will gather for dinner at Prince of Peace at 5:00 pm sharp. The training itself will begin following the evening meal and run from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Hosts will collect their guests at that time. On Friday and Saturday, training will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will conclude with the evening meal. The Sunday schedule will be based on worship times at Prince of Peace. The agenda will end at 3:00 p.m on Sunday afternoon leaving time to get to both Chicago airports for flights after 5:00 p.m.

Please respond to this invitation no later than May 15th so that we may plan accordingly.

St. Thomas member Ruth Engs will be featured on WFIU Profiles Sunday, June 20 at 7:00 p.m. A professor of Applied Health Sciences at IU, she is an authority on addictive behaviors. Her research focuses on American health reform movements, patterns of alcohol use among women and students, and controversies in the addiction field. Dr. Engs is the author of six books including Clean Living Movements: American Cycles of Health Reform, The Progressive Era's Health Reform Movement: A Historical Dictionary and Alcohol And Other Drugs: Self Responsibility.

Grand Adventure-South Lutheran Hills

Sr. High Grand Adventure-South is a small group adventure trip — hiking a 19 mile section of the Appalachian Trail and whitewater rafting a 9 mile section of the Nolichucky River in east Tennessee. The week begins (Sunday morning, June 27) and ends (Thursday afternoon, July 1) at the Indiana-Kentucky Synod office in Indianapolis. Participants must be entering grades 9-12 and be in excellent physical shape and be ready for a challenge. A complete information packet is available. $275.
