American Red Cross Blood Drive at St. Thomas

Blood is a critical resource for our country, our community, and for the patients who need it. Every two seconds, someone in America needs blood. In the Southern Indiana and Kentucky American Red Cross River Valley Region (based in Louisville), tries to collect 650 pints a day to meet the needs of the patients in the 56 hospitals they service.

St. Thomas Church will host a blood drive between services and following the 10:15 a.m. service. In order for this drive to be successful, we need at least 3 dozen blood donors and 6 to 8 volunteers — two people at a time serving for 2 hours each.

At 1:00 p.m., there will be a prayer vigil at the Islamic Center to demonstrate the community's support for the Center and our stand against the hate that was demonstrated in the fire bombing of the Center last week. For those who would like to participate, please meet in our parking lot at 12:30 to carpool to the Islamic Center.

Farewell and Godspeed, peace and thanks to Pastor Kyle Wiersma Halverson who has served as pastor of Lutheran Campus Ministry at I.U. since 2000. In accordance with the covenant between St. Thomas and LCM, Kyle has been a homilist and presider at our worship services. He has been an inspiring leader in our congregation as well as among the IU students. Kyle and his wife, Pastor Jan Wiersma Halverson, will be moving on to new ministries in Minnesota. A reception in their honor will be held today between services.

We welcome Craig Sproat to the organ while David is in New York working at a children's camp.
