The Seventh Annual Ecumenical Advocacy Days in Washington, DC

Join fellow faith-based advocates in Washington D.C. for the annual Ecumenical Advocacy Days (EAD) on March 13-16, 2009 for a weekend full of learning, worshiping, and advocating.

We will learn about the connections between climate change, migration and poverty, worship and pray with other faith-based denominations, and meet with our members of Congress to advocate on behalf of the poorest and underserved communities in the United States and around the world. This year's gathering is at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center. Call 800-445-8667 to make reservations under the name "Ecumenical Advocacy Days" for the special $109 (plus tax) per night room rate. The room block is limited so call early.

Lutherans are invited to the ELCA reception on Friday, March 13, and a luncheon and discussion forum on Saturday, March 14 to hear from the ELCA public policy directors.

Trinity Episcopal, together with a few other groups, has decided to sponsor a Sunday afternoon feeding ministry. They will be serving a Sunday meal to anyone in the community that is hungry. These meals will be prepared on Saturday afternoons (from 1:00 to 3:30p.m.) and served on the next day from 1 to 4.

They would like to have three or four members from St. Thomas who would be willing to help with this ministry. The dates when Trinity will need help with meals are on the following Saturdays: February 14, March 14, March 28 & April 25. Synod Church in Society Committee Meeting from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Indiana-Kentucky Synod Lutheran Center Chapel

Trinity Episcopal, together with a few other groups, has decided to sponsor a Sunday afternoon feeding ministry. They will be serving a Sunday meal to anyone in the community that is hungry. These meals will be prepared on Saturday afternoons (from 1:00 to 3:30p.m.) and served on the next day from 1 to 4.

They would like to have three or four members from St. Thomas who would be willing to help with this ministry. The dates when Trinity will need help with meals are on the following Saturdays: February 14, March 14, March 28 & April 25. Pastor McKee will hold classes for young members who are ready to learn more about the sacrament of Holy Communion. Normal age is 10, but younger children are welcome - at the discretion of parents. Classes will be Sundays, March 29 & April 5th from 12:30 - 1:30 pm.

Helping your Garden Grow — Prepare the way for a beautiful garden and help Lutheran Campus Ministry at IU along the way. This Sunday and next (March 29 and April 5) the LCM-IU board of directors invites you to place an order for flowers to spruce up your garden. Geraniums (red, white, orange, or hot pink) are available for only $2.50 per 4" pot. Order today and then pick up your flowers at church on Sunday, May 3rd. Prepare your landscape for the future by ordering daffodil bulbs for only $1 each (minimum 5). Your bulbs will be ready for pick up at church later this year (September 27 or October 4). All proceeds support LCM at IU.
