Atlanta, July 17, 2003 — With Lutheran World Relief staff busy nearby explaining aid, fair trade and advocacy among the 20,000-plus teenagers at the ELCA triennial youth gathering here, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution carried an article yesterday about how to pick a charity to help in places like Iraq. The newspaper advised donors to do their homework, that it is usually better to send money rather than goods and cited LWR as a top choice. In fact, if Martin Luther had changed his name to something like Aachenfelder, LWR would have been listed first. See Atlanta Journal-Constitution article.
