The 2001 ELCA Churchwide Assembly mandated that our church conduct two studies on sexuality. The first is to be a study of homosexuality leading to recommendations to the 2005 Churchwide Assembly regarding the blessing of same gender unions and the rostering (ordaining, consecrating or commissioning) of gay or lesbian persons who are in committed relationships.

Talking about "A Message on Sexuality: Some Common Convictions" will give ELCA members a chance to review our church's stated consensus on certain matters of sexuality. Sessions invite participants in the small group to consider both what is right and wrong in sexual conduct and how our ministry in this church can nurture healthy sexual practices that are faithful to God and others and that enrich people's lives and enhance our witness in the world.
